For the pattern I used the bottom half of Jalie 2798. I like the skirt on this pattern because it is less fabric hungry than a circle skirt. I didn't use the top half of the Jalie pattern because it had too many pieces to make up and fit quickly for a whole class. Instead, I used a self-drafted pattern. It was actually harder than I anticipated to blend the 2 patterns together, particularly to get the back length right.
The fabric is mystique spandex from glitter and dance, which came up really well under the lights. The letters were made from heat fix glitter, which stretches with the lycra and is very easy to use.
The costumes were a hit with the dancers and the audience, and were rather poignant, given that this announcement, which will greatly affect the viability of our town, was made on the morning of the dance concert.

Fantastic costume - how great for the team to have you to make such professional looking outfits. Funny, when I heard that on the ABC news last week, I immediately thought of you! Really quite devastating for the town.
Yes,everybody is quite sad this weekend. Who knows if there will even be enough kids in this town next year to have a dance school?
What a professional looking costume - you are so skilful! My daughter's dance group hired costumes this year, so no work for any of the mums but the hire price was an absolute gouge...
I just clicked over to the article - that's going to have a huge impact! - what sad news for the town.
What a great costume. I remember watching a cheerleading reality show here in the states and there was an Australian cheerleader auditioning for the team. I always thought cheerleaders were an American-only thing.
I clicked over to read the article. That is truly devastating. I can't imagine the impact of something like that on a smaller town.
That is a great costume you have made. That fabric looks like it would be tricky to work with, but it looks flawless. Devastating news about the town.
Sad news for Gove. Great costumes and they are lucky to have you make them for them!
Fantastic job on the costumes, they look fab and very professional. It's terrible about the Rio decision. I hope your little town can pull together and find ways to keep going.
I love the costume and her poses! Devastating news; I hope your family pulls through o.k.

Brilliant work for a worthy cause. Rio Tinto will never make the ethical investment list. They move in, plunder and leave like modern day Vikings.
Wow! That cheerleading jazz outfit is so cool. Such a perfect combination. The colors you chose for the ensemble are so beautiful and easy on the eyes. I'm envious of your talent in dress-making. You really know what you're doing there. I bet everyone in your daughter's jazz class loved it. Thanks for sharing that! I hope to see more. :)
