The shirt-dress

Originally, I was going to use a Vogue pattern for my shirt dress, but it looked a little boring, so I went to net-a-porter for some ideas to change it a little. Now, I knew about DVF and the wrap dress, but I didn't know that she also does some fab shirt dresses. Take a look at these...

Then I found this Burda WOF 11/2006 pattern. It needed about 2m of material and I only had 1.3, so I made it short-sleeved, left off the shoulder tabs, and did not have enough fabric for the self tie. I haven't taken great photos, but the dress has a centre front invisible zip and a skirt box pleat, which I liked. More details at my pattern review.

BTW, the gold spotted sash around my dress is made from the same fabric as the dress Julia Roberts wore to the races in Pretty Woman (or so they told me when I went to buy it at Gardams)...the fabric was little pricey, which is why I just have a sash, not a whole dress!

Nice looking dress. I did not know that about DVF and shirt dresses either.
