Would you share your jeans?

This month, in bookclub, we read The Necklace by Cheryl Jarvis.  It is the story of a group of women who share a luxury diamond necklace.  They each paid about $1500 and get to wear the necklace for one month in the year.

This prompted discussions about what we would not share (my list...my bloke, my babysitter and my toothbrush).  Then when I asked who would share their jeans, I got a resounding "no way" from everybody.  I was genuinely surprised.  I have been meeting with this group of women for about 10 years and some of them I would consider close friends.  When I badgered a few of them about it, they replied, well, my jeans wouldn't fit you anyway, my jeans wouldn't look good on you, you wouldn't get a hot date wearing my jeans.

Personally, sharing my jeans wouldn't bother me in the least.  Either my store bought ones or my homemade ones.    How about you?

Are their jeans worth their weight in gold? I don't understand. I'd loan my jeans to my friends. Unfortunately, they won't fit any of them. You'd think if your jeans wouldn't fit any of your friends that they'd go ahead and say they would- knowing they wouldn't ever have to follow through- but then again, at least they are honest!

Not something I've ever considered before, but NO WAY! Even if they would fit/ look good. They're something I just about live in, and they feel very personal. It would be like loaning out underwear, honestly. Just creepy. Not to mention I don't wash them very often, so it'd probably be kind of manky to loan them out to someone.

All the 'mine would never fit you' issues aside (though I agree!), I'd be happy to lend my jeans but I don't think I'd want to wear someone else's. There's just something familiar about pulling on your jeans that would be lacking and weird with someone else's. I've noticed it when I pull out an old pair for gardening that I haven't worn for a year say, they feel odd.

Well, that's something I haven't thought about before. I have loaned clothes to people a few times. When people actually want to borrow your clothes, it's usually due to desperate circumstances, so then I'm happy to help them (:
But jeans do seem more personal than other clothes, maybe because they require just the "right fit" for you and so much blood, sweat, and tears, so to speak, in finding the right pair.

Being a smidge selfish, I still wouldn't mind sharing my jeans. As long as I had enough jeans that looked fantastic. Currently, I have 2 favorite jeans and if someone wanted to borrow them I'd let them, but they'd have to give them right back:)

I think I'd share anything except my underwear. Normally I'd add my bloke to the list, but he is not behaving well today!

Hmm. I don't think I'd mind, assuming the fit thing worked. My hubby used to steal all his jeans from his best buddy... and they are NOT the same size...

Now if they came back wrecked, there'd be hell to pay... ;)

... also my oldest daughter is fast approaching stealing-my-jeans age. I may feel differently about this whole thing in another year or two.
