Shiny Peacock Top

I have a pile of fabric in my bedroom that is annoying me.  My stash is too big to fit in my boxes and is spilling on the floor and some of these pieces I don't even really like.  This one was a little too shiny for my taste when it turned up (the perils of online fabric shopping).  I wanted a quick sew and I thought that this would be a good choice to test out a Patrones pattern for a top (pattern 28 from No. 333).  I realised this week that in spite of all my years sewing, I don't have a TNT pattern for tops.

The charmeuse is a little too bouncy for the pleats to sit nicely.  There was a scarf sort of attachment at the front, but I left it off.

See how green the grass is?  It has been raining a lot here.  It is so muggy that the camera lens fogs up unless you wait for it to reach the outside temperature (we live in air-con).

  1. I think the top is lovely and the fabric just ideal for it.

  2. Looks like a nice staple top. No rain here. Just hot - prob not as hot as where you are :)

  3. It looks really nice - cool and dressy! In that heat and humidity you really need air con!

  4. Lovely shape, and it's a great length too. I think the shiny peacock fabric looks great in this top - maybe for going out?

That sounds so humid - reminds me of tropical holidays where you have to wait for the camera to adjust to the outside humidity before you can take any photos!

  5. Hey - lovely fabric and cute top - love it with the skinny pants - you look very "put together".

    1. Hello Mary Nanna, lovely to hear from you. "Put together" is possibly the highest compliment for me, as in spite of sewing lots of beautiful clothes, I still feel more comfortable in daggy shorts each day

  8. Lovely top. I made a top from similar fabric a few years ago which is my 'most complimented garment'. There is something about peacock print that attracts attention.

  9. The top is lovely and despite the 'shiny' I hope you are comfortable in it. I don't envy you the humidity!
